FIRST SCHMITZ CARGOBULL REEFERS FOR NOONE TRANSPORT
Co. Meath-based Noone Transport has taken delivery of its first Schmitz Cargobull trailers, with five new S.KO COOL mono-temperature reefers joining its international transport fleet.
The decision to place the order was made as the customer needed the trailers as soon as possible, and the scale of Schmitz Cargobull’s manufacturing operation meant it could build and deliver all five trailers within four weeks. On the back of its product quality and speed of delivery, Schmitz Cargobull has secured a significant share of all reefer trailer sales in Ireland over the past 18 months.
Operations Manager, Simon Noone, explains: “Upon arrival, we were able to put the Schmitz Cargobull reefers straight into operation and they’ve been running ever since. We have not had any problems at all.”
Commenting on the fit and finish of the trailers, Noone adds: “These first five units have met the brief perfectly. Now we’ve tried and tested them in our own fleet, we would have no issue with buying more trailers from Schmitz in the future.”
The new trailers will be used to transport a wide range of deep frozen and refrigerated loads to and from mainland Europe, including pharmaceuticals, which require absolute temperature integrity throughout the supply chain. Noone Transport also delivers food ingredients to manufacturing sites all over Europe, including long-haul work as far afield as Eastern Europe.
Built to order at the manufacturer’s extensive reefer production facility in Vreden, Germany, all five S.KO COOL trailers run on Schmitz Cargobull’s own Rotos axles and have been mounted with Thermo King SLX refrigeration units. They also feature Schmitz Cargobull’s proven FERROPLAST panels utilising the latest NX 17 foam technology for improved insulation and body strength. A unique joint-free in-process corner capping system ensures a water tight seal to maintain thermal efficiency.
Noone Transport is also benefiting from the S.KO COOL’s standard semi-chassis construction, which sees each trailer sit approximately 100mm lower at the front than a comparable competitor trailer, whilst maintaining the same internal working height dimensions. The reduction in overall height decreases the frontal area by approximately 2.4 per cent, cutting aerodynamic drag force by the same amount and helping to maximise fuel efficiency.
The delivery of the new trailers brings the customer’s total trailer parc to 55, of which just under half (26) are refrigerated. They join a diverse fleet which includes Euroliners, fixed roof curtainsiders, flatbeds and ultra-secure box van trailers. They will operate exclusively with Noone’s fleet of MAN tractor units.
