NEW PIVOTING CIRCULATION WALL REDUCES CLEANING TIMES FOR REEFER OPERATORS

Schmitz Cargobull has introduced a new pivoting circulation wall for its S.KO COOL reefer trailers which drastically reduces the average cleaning times from approximately 15 minutes, to just one minute.

Transporting food requires the highest hygiene standards in the cargo area, and when trailers are being used to carry sensitive goods such as hanging meat, the necessary regulations can only be fulfilled through frequent cleaning immediately after unloading. For some operators carrying multiple loads during a given shift, this can mean the cleaning cycle must be repeated several times per day.

Disassembling the standard circulation wall in a reefer trailer takes approximately 15 minutes. But thanks to the new, pivoting circulation wall, Schmitz Cargobull is confident it can reduce this time to roughly one minute for a typical driver.

Derek Skinner, Technical Director at Schmitz Cargobull UK, explains: “The faster cleaning process stands to save fleets a significant amount of time.

“The pivoting circulation wall can be easily opened and shut using a snap lock. A safety rope locks the pivoted wall in place and simultaneously prevents the circulation wall from opening unintentionally during empty runs. A graphic displaying the instructions shows the driver how to use the pivoting wall.”

This new circulation wall can be installed in all S.KO COOL refrigerated trailers which are capable of being fitted with a fixed wall, regardless of the trailer height or the make of refrigeration unit specified.

Its introduction follows a long line of developments made by Schmitz Cargobull over the last two years, each aimed at upgrading the S.KO COOL to ensure it maintains its position as the undisputed number one selling reefer trailer in the European market.

Other key enhancements have seen the FERROPLAST panels adapted to take advantage of new NX17 foam technology which provides even better insulation, combined with greater structural strength. Schmitz Cargobull has also reinforced the door edges to provide added stability when reversing into loading bays.

Every upgrade brought to market by Schmitz Cargobull’s design team is focused on introducing additional customer benefits – above all placing the greatest importance on product flexibility, safety, optimised payload capacity and even better handling.
