Schmitz Cargobull has appointed Alan Hunt as Managing Director for its UK and Ireland operations.

Hunt (50) joins Schmitz Cargobull after 16 years with Finning CAT where he held a variety of roles, including Defence and Government Manager, Business Unit Manager and more recently Head of Sales for Commercial Marine and Oil & Gas.

In his new role, Hunt will focus on maintaining and growing Schmitz Cargobull’s substantial presence in the UK and Irish markets and brings considerable engineering expertise from his previous positions.

He says: “I’ve been hugely impressed at what a positive and forward looking company Schmitz Cargobull is. In the UK alone, this is a £75 million business and my goal is to grow our presence further as the European market leader – building on an already strong order intake.

“Key to our continued development will be staying true to the values which have steered the company to international success over the past 124 years.”

Hunt will manage Schmitz Cargobull from the firm’s headquarters in Warrington, and joins the company at an exciting time for its British and Irish operations. The portfolio of trailers has recently expanded to include the multi-temp version of Schmitz Cargobull’s own refrigeration unit, equipped with the TrailerConnect telematics package, and the XL version of its fixed-roof curtainsider designed especially for the UK and Ireland.
