Schmitz Cargobull is returning to Tip-Ex 2014 to exhibit its expanding range of steel and aluminium tipper trailers.

After a successful debut of its UK-specification tippers at the show in 2013, this year will see Schmitz Cargobull exhibit two SK.I 24 SL 10.5 tipper trailers for the first time in Britain – one with a steel half pipe body, the other with an aluminium square sided body. The tippers showcase the ever-expanding Schmitz Cargobull range, with the steel tipper designed for general haulage, scrap and aggregates, and the aluminium tipper aimed at markets dealing in loose, pourable goods such as grain and agriculture.

Both have been manufactured at Schmitz Cargobull’s Gotha plant in Germany and are being brought over to the UK exclusively for the show. The Gotha factory manufactures up to 20,000 trailers per annum to the highest specification.

With Schmitz Cargobull’s tipper range now firmly established in the UK, along with its best-selling curtainsiders and refrigerated trailers, the show provides an opportunity to get a first look at the expanded range. Both trailers are 10.5m long, one of the most popular tipper trailer lengths in the UK market.

Paul Avery, Managing Director at Schmitz Cargobull UK says: “After a successful launch last year, we are proud to be able to demonstrate our wider range of tipper trailers. Both trailers are manufactured to the same exacting standards which Schmitz Cargobull is renowned for. We’re very excited to bring these tippers to the UK as we are sure they will capture the imagination of the market.”

SK.I 24 SL 10.5 steel half pipe body

The tri-axle SK.I 24 SL 10.5 steel half pipe body tipper trailer, which has a cargo space volume of 55m3, can carry payloads of up to 30 tonnes.

Designed for general haulage applications, such as carrying scrap or aggregates, the tipper is built with an electronic braking system, including an advanced rollover stability program for increased safety.

Visitors will also be able to see its low-maintenance Jost ‘MODUL’ landing legs, and a telescopic, bendable and removable crossbrace.

SK.I 24 SL 10.5 aluminium square sided body

The tri-axle SK.I 24 SL 10.5 aluminium square sided body tipper trailer is perfectly designed for carrying pourable solid loads such as grain, making it ideal for the agricultural market.

Able to carry payloads of up to 33 tonnes, the tipper has space for 48m3of cargo and features an aluminium-topped hinged door with a durable rubber seal. The version on display at Tip-Ex also includes a grainslide, two additional crossbraces, and a PVC roller curtain. With a sidewall thickness of 3.5mm and a floor ranging from 8mm at the rear to 5mm at the front, the tipper body is designed to carry the maximum payload at the minimum weight.

Both trailers benefit from Schmitz Cargobull’s long experience in delivering best in class products. A key part of the tipper trailer development has been the use of the advanced road simulator at the Cargobull Validation Centre in Germany, where designs are tested to the limit to guarantee maximum product quality and reliability.

Both trailers also feature Schmitz Cargobull’s ROTOS® running gear, which offers maintenance-free bearing and a disc brake ventilation system, along with a host of other series-standard safety features.

In common with all Schmitz Cargobull trailers, the chassis is welded rather than bolted, which improves product life and cuts the cost of repair and maintenance.
