West Yorkshire-based international logistics company Brian Yeardley Continental has taken on 10 new Schmitz Cargobull high-security, low ride box trailers. The new trailers will join the company’s rapidly expanding exhibition and events logistics division branded Trucking by Brian Yeardley which operates throughout the UK and Europe.

Key to securing the deal was the performance of the company’s existing Schmitz Cargobull trailers, coupled with the impressive security features and low unladen weight offered with the new units.

Brian Yeardley Continental Managing Director Kevin Hopper says: “In our opinion these are the best box van trailers on the market. They offer us maximum security, but they are also a tonne lighter than the nearest competitor. This is a huge advantage as we are able to keep our operating costs low by maximising on payload with every journey.”

Due to the high-value audio-visual equipment being transported, the trailers have been fitted with ultra-secure SBS locks – a bolt-through system which has no parts on the outside, so cannot be cut or removed.

Schmitz Cargobull’s technical team has also worked closely with the live events and exhibitions specialist to include a number of innovative features on the trailers. These include specially designed and built loading ramps and ramp carriers as well as extra locking and load securing points. The trailers also feature a bespoke lighting system for night time loading and unloading which includes interior multi-chamber low-energy LED lighting on a timer.

“We have always been extremely impressed with the attention to detail which goes into every Schmitz Cargobull product. The new high-security box trailers highlight the company’s commitment to developing trailers specifically suited to our needs,” says Hopper.

The new trailers feature Schmitz Cargobull’s FERROPLAST® body panels, constructed using galvanised steel sheeting, which offers greater security and is easier to repair than traditional GRP. An added advantage is the fact that the panels do not absorb moisture and therefore do not increase in weight over time, meaning the maximum payload remains consistent over the life of the trailer.

The ten new box trailers join Brian Yeardley Continental’s existing fleet of 16 low-ride box trailers deployed on its exhibition and event logistics business – and are each expected to cover 125,000 miles annually, enough to drive more than three times around the Equator. The trailers will be serviced by the company’s in-house maintenance team and are expected to remain on the fleet for seven years.

Brian Yeardley Continental was established in 1975 and operates from its head office in Featherstone, West Yorkshire. The company also has an office and large warehouse in in Ashford Kent close to the Channel.
