SCHMITZ CARGOBULL TO DEBUT AT TIP-EX 2013 WITH NEW SLIDING FLOOR AND TIPPER TRAILERS
Schmitz Cargobull’s Gotha plant Product Manager and Western Europe Sales Manager will be on hand at the show to meet with operators
Schmitz Cargobull is making its debut at Tip-Ex 2013 with the launch of its first range of sliding floor trailers in the UK and to test the market for its tipper trailers.
The SW24 SLG sliding floor trailer and the SK.I 24 3AT 9.6 tipper trailer are both manufactured at Schmitz Cargobull’s Gotha plant in Germany and are being brought over to the UK exclusively for the show. The Gotha factory manufactures up to 20,000 trailers per annum to the highest specification.
Paul Stadler, Product Manager at Schmitz Cargobull’s Gotha plant and Frank Reppenhagen, Regional Director for Western Europe, will both be on hand, together with the UK team, during the three-day show to meet with operators to get their feedback and talk about the new range of trailers for the UK market.
Schmitz Cargobull is already well established in the UK market for curtainsiders, reefers and box van trailers, but is now looking to bring its European expertise into the local tipper and sliding floor trailer markets.
Paul Avery, Managing Director at Schmitz Cargobull UK says: “This is the biggest construction show of its type in the UK; we are using it as an opportunity to speak with hauliers, own-account operators and their drivers, to get their detailed feedback on what they would like to see from us.”
SW24 SLG sliding floor trailer
The tri-axle SW24 SLG sliding floor trailer, which has a cargo space volume of 92m3, comes with 21 hydraulic sliding elements for moving bulk or packaged goods and a roll-up tarpaulin roof.
The sliding floor makes it ideal for transporting products used in the waste, agricultural, wood and recycling industries, with its key selling point being the ability to unload bulk goods in precisely controlled amounts without tipping.
The example on show has been built with special features for the waste industry, including an 8mm floor thickness and a roof with extra strong cross braces with screwed storage. The body also meets DIN EN 12642 Code XL certification for load security.
The new trailer will be available to order at the show.
SK.I 24 3AT 9.6 tipper trailer
The tri-axle SK.I 24 3AT 9.6 tipper trailer comes with a weight-optimised rounded steel half-pipe body for short-distance use and frequent tipping, with a 6mm floor and 5mm sidewalls for the heavy duty building industry operations.
The specification also includes a top hung tail gate and a sliding roller tarpaulin cover to prevent loads from being blown away and to maximise aerodynamic efficiency. Other features include a heavy-duty steel frame with large performance reserves, an aluminium working platform for safe operation and a lift axle to increase manoeuvrability and reduce tyre scrub.
The trailer has been developed using the same rigorous testing procedure which sets all Schmitz Cargobull products apart from the competition. It has been tested using an advanced in-house road simulator at the Cargobull Validation Centre in Germany, which accurately reproduces the entire life cycle of a tipper trailer within only a few weeks, to guarantee maximum product quality and reliability.
Both the sliding floor and tipper trailers, which carry Schmitz Cargobull’s European Whole Vehicle Type Approval, are designed to handle demanding workloads. They also offer convincingly low maintenance and repair costs, as they are manufactured exclusively with materials providing high wear resistance together with long-lasting components.
Both models come with Schmitz Cargobull’s ROTOS® running gear with a complete series-standard range of safety equipment, including maintenance-free bearing, an innovative ventilation system for the disc brakes, the weight-optimised brake calliper, the multi-ride-height pneumatic suspension for every ramp height along with the standard trailer EBS (Electronic Braking System) with RSP (Roll Stability Program).
