Elkem Silicones to launch new silicone-based solutions for Additive Manufacturing/3D Printing at Formnext 2022 in Frankfurt.
Elkem Silicones will showcase its latest product innovation, enlarging its portfolio of silicone solutions of the AMSil™ and AMSil™ Silbione™ ranges for Additive Manufacturing/3D Printing, at the upcoming Formnext show in Frankfurt Germany from November 15th to 18th 2022.
Already acknowledgment for its disruptive silicone solutions as a winner in the 2021 R&D 100 award, Elkem Silicones is continuing its material innovation campaign in Additive Manufacturing/3D Printing. With the new developments, Elkem Silicones is now able to provide products from ShA 10 to ShA 70 with all well-known properties of 100% silicones for LDM (Liquid Deposit Molding) based systems. Besides their use in medical and industrial applications the range now also allows the use in Food Grade applications.
Elkem Silicones will also launch a newly developed support material as the AMSil™ 92100 series. This material is a paste like formulation suitable for use in common with the AMSil™ and AMSil™ Silbione™ range allowing to taking advantage of features and structures associated with the freedom of design approach inherent to Additive Manufacturing/3D Printing. The material is water-soluble and can be washed off during the post-processing phase.
This year, Elkem booth will host a fully equipped 3D printer from Deltatower, Switzerland allowing multi-material printing with different silicones simultaneously as well as other materials. Examples of multi-material objects will be showcased at the booth.
Actual results and the potential of radiation curing silicone systems will be given in a paper titled “UV-curable silicone elastomeric materials designed for 3D printing technologies (SLA, DLP, LCD) and medical applications“based on Elkem Silicones formulations in a joint presentation by Thomas Brossier (3D Medlab) and Dr Jean-Marc Frances (Elkem Silicones) on the Introducing Stage on Friday 18th November at 12:00pm.
In line with Elkem commitments for the future
These examples of the latest developments show the commitment from Elkem Silicones to Additive Manufacturing/3D Printing and its potential of being part of a more sustainable economy in the future. Driving Additive Manufacturing/3D Printing to industrial scale as part of the factory of the future through Digital Manufacturing will help creating innovative, profitable and sustainable solutions for customers reducing the environmental impact by reducing waste but also achieving savings on transportation and storage costs, two big contributors to the total carbon footprint of end-products.
