Ellen AB:s tredje patentfamilj godkänd i USA
PRESS RELEASE 19 November 2007
Ellen AB's third patent family approved in the USA
The US authorities have approved Ellen AB's patent for five unique lactic acid
bacteria strains that can promote women's vaginal health.
“This means that as of now, US players are also prevented from using our
bacteria strains for commercial purposes. Our products are protected in the USA
up to and including 2021,” comments Anna Weiner Jiffer, co-founder of Ellen AB.
The company has submitted a global patent application which has to date been
approved in Sweden, South Africa, Australia, China, Singapore and now the USA.
The international launch of the company's first product, the probiotic tampon
ELLEN®, has begun. After cementing the tampon's position on the Swedish and
Nordic markets, the first non-Nordic launch was carried out at the start of
2007 in France, followed by a launch in Austria during the third quarter.
Ellen AB is concurrently working to develop new products based on the same
patented technology.
Ellen AB has a strong patent portfolio. The bacteria strains have good clinical
effects, capacity for large-scale fermentation, survive longer in a
freeze-dried state and are stable generation to generation.
Ellen AB's first patent family, secured as early as 1992, is for probiotic
sanitary protection products.
The second patent family, approved by the European Patent Office, protects the
production methods for probiotic sanitary protection products up until 2020. A
global application has been registered for this patent which also been approved
in Australia.
Ellen AB is listed on First North as ELN. The company's Certified Advisers is
Thenberg & Kinde.

About Ellen AB
Ellen AB is a biotech company that offers patented probiotic products to
promote women's vaginal health. Basically all women suffer bacterial imbalance
once or more often in life. Bacterial imbalance is caused by a weakened lactic
acid bacteria flora. ELLEN® contains LN® (Lacto Naturel), which is comprised
of human lactic acid bacteria, a natural part of healthy women's defence
against infections. Ellen AB was the first company in the world to launch in
the Nordic countries tampons treated with lactic acid bacteria in 2002. The
company is currently engaged in an international launch and the development of
new products based on the same technology.
