Accreditation open for World Choir Games events
Between 9 and 19 July, the World Choir Games will come to Riga, this year's European Capital of Culture. Over 20 000 singers from 57 countries will take part in competitions, as well as concerts, workshops led by world-class musicians, and other events, making Riga the world's choir capital for two weeks.
“One of our objectives is to show the public, in the context of the World Choir Games, the many diverse meanings of the simple verb ‘to sing’ ” says World Choir Games Artistic Director, conductor Romans Vanags.
The World Choir Games is the world’s largest choir music festival. Its aim is to bring together choirs in friendly competition, regardless of nationality, race, musical style or size of the choir or ensemble. World Choir Games have been held since 2000 and are held every two years in cities around the world, this year coming to Riga. Over ten days, Riga 's best concert halls and parks will host competitions in 29 categories, master classes and seminars, special performances and friendship concerts, a parade of participants and many other exciting events.
