Hästens and ÖtillÖ has joined forces to push the importance of Sleep to perform. Following the Engadin Swimrun in Switzerland in July we are getting ready for the ÖtillÖ Swimrun in Stockholm, on September 1st.

ÖtillÖ is a race where teams of two run and swim over and between a total of 26 islands, from Sandhamn to Utö in the Stockholm Archiplelago. The total distance is 75 km of which 65 km are trail-running in your wetsuit and 10 km are open-water swimming in your running shoes. 120 teams from 22 nationalities will endure the ninth edition of the dificult race. The race is ranked by CNN as “one of the toughest endurance races in the world”.

To manage to perform well during a race of this caliber you need to prepare very well. It means you need to train hard and you need to eat and drink properly. What most people forget is the fourth pillar of preparation, to sleep well so your body has the possibility to recover during training and racing. That is why ÖtillÖ has teamed with Hästens to push the message of sleep to perform. Michael Lemmel, one of the race directors for ÖtillÖ says “It is so good to find a sponsor with whom we can create a message that we so strongly believe in. We are so proud to work with Hästens one of the best-known brands in the bed industry who are well-known for their mission to make people around the world sleep better.”

So far, we have been engaged in the Engadin Swimrun in Switzerland on July 12th. Next in the Swimrun Racing Series is ÖtillÖ. A Hästens Team will be present and we are proud to follow the efforts of Jonas Colting and Rasmus Henning. Jonas recently finished a 640 km swim, in a project called Sverigesimmet, collecting more than 700 000 SEK to suppor clean water in the third world. Rasmus is currently seen in the program ‘En klassiker’ in Swedish television SVT, challenging the record in "En klassiker" another tough competition (cycling, swimming, running and cross-country skiing).

Mary Petrini, Marketing Manager EMEA at Hästens says: “As Hästens is all (passionate) about sleep – I searched for a suitable platform to engage in the importance of sleeping well, where you need to perform at a high or even extreme level. When engaging in ÖtillÖ the Sleep to Perform theme became obvious. This is a race in it’s natural form – with the human body as the only tool – in a place in it’s natural unique environment – the archipelago of Sweden, which made it a perfect match. We only use natural materials and as our beds are handmade and customized for each customer it is a recipe for quality and passion.”
