During the past weeks calls to Bris (a Swedish organisation supporting Children’s Rights in Society) has seen a 30 percent increase of incoming calls. At the same time, Bris is experiencing an increased need for financial support in the wake of covid-19. Ikano Bank Sweden and Ikano Bostad have therefore decided to support Bris with 1.1 million SEK.

During times of isolation, children are more vulnerable for domestic abuse and at the same time the support from outside of the home is absent. During the last couple of weeks, the demand on Bris’ support line has increased by 30 percent and children have to wait on the line to talk to a counsellor. Children's need to talk to someone is there all hours of the day, and Bris is working to increase their opening hours even further. When the economic situation in the world is affected, the income to Bris is also at risk of being affected.

“We have noticed a higher pressure on Bris as a direct result of the pandemic. The financial support from Ikano Bank and Ikano Bostad means a lot right now. This will help us long-term to ensure that children who need help have continued and easy access to professional support just a keystroke away. The donation will be used to strengthen Bris’ support line and in the long term further extend our opening hours”, says Magnus Jägerskog, Secretary General at Bris.

Ikano Bank and Ikano Bostad have applied and been approved by Ikano Goup to donate 50 000 euro each to the organisation Bris. By combining our financial support, we can give even more. We want to create possibilities for better living, and this is our way of siding with the many people in this extraordinary time.

About Bris
Bris is a politically and religiously independent children's rights organisation that listens to, supports and strengthens children and young adults' rights in society. Bris’ support services offer children and young adults up to 18 years old a secure, anonymous and free way to email, chat, or call a counsellor at Bris. Since its inception, physical abuse has been a central issue for Bris but support is also about other important issues where the child is mistreated, having problems or needs support and advice from knowledgeable and empathetic adults.
