DRESSING ROOMS
The MTV dressing room crew will be decking out 34 luxurious dressing rooms for the star-studded line-up of performers and presenters at the MTV EMAs.  They’ll be needing lots of room to accommodate the 2,000 pieces of luggage brought by the performers at the show!

London based Lovely Things is supplying sumptuous sofas, lavish lighting, opulent accessories and scented candles to pamper the host, performers and guest presenters.

 PRODUCTION, STAGE, SET & TECH
The set for the 2010 MTV EMAs has been inspired by the name of the venue, the Caja Mágica which means literally “magic box”; celebrated set designer Es Devlin, working for the first time on the MTV EMAs, has previously designed sets for Take That, Lady Gaga and Muse.

Specialist set builders Steel Monkey have trucked in tons of high grade steel and aluminium from London for the purpose-built EMA set, based around an giant metal cube that rotates through 360 degrees to reveal a different facet and setting for each performance.

In keeping with the EMA’s predominantly purple theme, this year’s VIPs will be sashaying down a purple carpet instead of the traditional red one!

The MTV EMAs will be making history with the first ever outside broadcast from the Puerta de Alcalá (Alcalá Gate) – directed by Cristian Biodani.  This is the first time the historic monument has been used as the setting for a TV broadcast, with tens of thousands of music fans expected to gather to watch performances by Katy Perry, 30 Seconds To Mars and Linkin Park.

Director Paul Shyvers’ last big MTV gig was directing the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) in Kenya, Nairobi in October 2009.

MTV’s tech team provides over 800 walkie talkies for staff and crew to communicate during the EMAs, backed up with 1,200 batteries and 450 headsets.  Over and out!

HAIR, MAKEUP AND FASHION
Fashionista, Desperate Housewife and MTV EMA host Eva Longoria will rival last year’s hostess Katy Perry by an astounding 8 dress changes during the EMAs; one of her dresses will be a hot little number by former MTV EMA winner and performer Victoria Beckham.

EMA make-up Supervisor Debbie Dannell is delighted to have MAC cosmetics on board again for this year’s EMAs.  Headed by Baltzar Gonzales and his team from London, the MAC crew will be joined by a team of make-up artists from Madrid.

Graffitti supremo The Urbanist will be wielding his airbrush in collaboration with the EMA Glam
Squad for the sixth year running, creating living artworks on the performers and dancers at the show.

The EMA Glam Squad will be using over 300 wigs and hair pieces this year not to mention skin wigs and special UV make-up from Stargazer! They will be getting through 300 shades of lipsticks, eyeshadow and blusher, gluing on 100 sets of pre-painted nails and 600 sets of eyelashes and using up 300 cans of hairspray and 40 shades of glitter.  The team will be using Neil & Wolf hair care products, on all the artists and dancers of this year’s show.

FOOD AND DRINK
EMA catering supremos Eat Your Heart Out will be providing macrobiotic treats and tempting titbits for the performers and presenters at the show.  The team starts shopping at 4am every day, and will use 600 chickens and half a tonne of beef every day.

Thirty top chefs from countries around the world including Vietnam, Australia, England, Holland, Ireland and Scandinavia have been flown into Madrid to cater for hungry EMA-ers. The Vietnamese chef was flown in accompanied by 30 kilos of specially made curry paste and will use 20 kilos of noodles and 200 onions every day in his delectable dishes

Crew, staff and guests will drink their way through 10,000 bottles of water daily, with all of the bottles recycled after the show.

MTV EMA 2010 is using three different Madrid bakeries every day to keep up with the demand for bread and pastries.

A specialist cocktail waiter is being flown in from Germany for artist catering and he will invent dedicated MTV cocktails that complement and amplify the theme of the show.

First-class Lufthansa air stewardesses have been drafted in as waiting staff for the artist hospitality and bar, plus waiters from the prestigious Four Seasons Hotel.

DANCERS
AMCK Dance is providing 97 dancers from 12 different countries will be performing at the EMAs.

Costumes this year include feathers tassels, bowler hats, UV paints and policemen’s outfits!

500 dancers attended the auditions in Madrid for their chance to dance at the EMAs. Alongside many of the world’s best dancers will be a young male dancer of just 17 who won through to the EMA dance line-up at his very first audition.

EMA STAFF AND TRAVEL
The MTV accreditation team has been busy laminating more than 1300 passes for MTV crew and staff working on the 2010 MTV EMAs; a further 600 talent and crew will be in town to work the show. 

MTV has commissioned more than 110 limousines and MPVs to move artists round the city of Madrid; more than 100 buses have been commissioned to transport VIP guests and media to and from the venue.  60 cars have been hired to move MTV staff and crew around the city.

The MTV EMAs has taken over 17 of Madrid’s hotels, accounting for 5,000 individual room nights in the Spanish capital.

More than 100 European bands applied for Suzuki’s New Swift FANtastic Sounds competition within only 2 weeks while more than 3,000 European music fans applied for the New Swift FAN Award competition within 7 weeks.  The winners of both the New Swift FANtastic Sounds competition and the New Swift FAN Award will be attending the 2010 MTV EMAs in Madrid.

More than 5,000 people in 9 days participated in the Movistar Celebrity experience competition, to win VIP tickets to the EMAs, including a ride in a limousine and other treats in Madrid.

 The Caja Madrid is the first ever Spanish local sponsor of the EMAs.

Dell has given one lucky winner and nine of their friends the chance to go to the MTV EMAs in Madrid in true VIP style, spending two nights at one of the city’s coolest hotels and going on a VIP night out at one of Madrid’s hottest! That’s all before they even get to the main event where the winners will arrive at the EMAs in chauffeur-driven style.

Hosted by Eva Longoria, the MTV EMAs will broadcast live from Madrid on MTV platforms across the globe from Sunday, November 7th, 2010, 21:00 CET, and will feature performances by Katy Perry, Ke$ha, Kid Rock, Kings of Leon, Linkin Park, B.o.B & Hayley Williams, Plan B, Miley Cyrus, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Bon Jovi, Shakira and Rihanna.

MTV EMA 2010 will also stream live on www.mtvema.com and Facebook from 21:00 CET on Sunday 7 November 2010.
