Luxemburg, den 20 december 2013 – Northland Resources S.A. (OSE: NAUR, Frankfurt: NPK, Nasdaq OMX/First North: NAURo – tillsammans med dotterbolagen ”Northland”, ”NRSA” eller ”Bolaget”) meddelar att Johan Balck, 52, har anställts som VD för Northlandkoncernen.
Johan Balck, som i grunden är civilingenjör, kommer närmast från positionen som VD för Ferruform, ett större produktionsbolag inom Scaniakoncernen beläget i Luleå. Tidigare har Johan Balck varit VD för Scania Peter LCC i S:t Petersburg och produktionschef på Scania AB. Johan Balck har även haft ledande operationella roller på Electrolux och ett antal andra industriföretag i Sverige inom olika branscher.
"Jag är mycket nöjd och glad att vi lyckats knyta till oss Johan Balck, som tackat ja till utmaningen att leda Northland framåt. Vi får en VD som har bred industriell och operationell erfarenhet, ofta i krävande situationer", säger styrelseordförande Olav Fjell.

Johan Balck tillträder sin befattning senast den 1 juli 2014. Peter Pernlöf, som har varit tillförordnad VD sedan juni 2013, fyller 67 år i sommar och går då i pension.

Northland är en producent av järnmalm med en portfölj av produktion, utvecklings- och prospekteringsprojekt i norra Sverige och Finland. Den första byggfasen av Kaunisvaara-projektet är färdig och drifttagningen startade i november 2012. Northland avser att producera ett höghaltigt och högkvalitativt järnmalmskoncentrat i svenska Kaunisvaara, där Bolaget har två fyndigheter, Tapuli och Sahavaara, med magnetitmalm. Northland har ingått så kallade ”off-take agreements” för hela produktionen från Kaunisvaara de kommande sju till tio åren. Bolaget förbereder även en lönsamhetsstudie (DFS) för Hannukainen-projektet i Kolari i norra Finland. Hannukainen är en så kallad IOCG-fyndighet, vilket innebär att det utöver järnmalm även kan utvinnas guld och koppar.
