Luxembourg, 30 maj 2013 – Northland Resources S.A. (OSL: NAUR, Frankfurt: NPK, STO: NAURo – “Northland” eller “Bolaget”) publicerar sin åttonde uppdatering av verksamheten och uppbyggnaden av Kaunis­vaara­projektet. Under den senaste perioden, 23 mars 2013 – 30 maj 2013, har Northland bland annat levererat ytterligare tre skeppslaster med järnmalmskoncentrat.

•        Den andra skeppslasten, med omkring 54 000 ton järnmalmskoncentrat, lämnade Narviks hamn den 29 april med destination Arcelor Mittal i Gent, Belgien

•        Det tredje fartyget lämnade Narvik den 4 maj, lastat med omkring 56 000 ton järnmalmskoncentrat för kunden Sahaviriya Steel Industries i Storbritannien

•        Den 29 maj lämnade det fjärde fartyget Narvik, lastat med ca 57 000 ton järnmalmskoncentrat till Tata Steel i IJmuiden, Nederländerna

•        I mitten av mars togs lagerbyggnaden i Narvik i drift vilket möjliggör en mer kostnadseffektiv verksamhet

•        Bolaget planerar att under 2013 producera 1,2 miljoner ton färdig produkt och att nå en årlig produktionstakt om 4 miljoner ton i slutet av tredje kvartalet 2014

•        Som en följd av Northlands nuvarande finansiella tillstånd och den pågående rekonstruktionen av Bolagets tre svenska dotterbolag har Bolaget beslutat att anpassa sitt investeringsprogram till aktuell situation

•        Den 24 maj stoppade Northland verksamheten efter ett beslut av obligationsägarnas ombud (Norsk Tillitsmann) att frysa Bolagets bankkonton. Verksamheten bedöms kunna återupptas efter genom­förandet av ett obligationsägarmöte som planeras att genomföras den 4 juni. •        Bolaget meddelade den 29 maj att en grupp investerare åtagit sig att teckna obligationer till ett väsentligt belopp (108 miljoner US-dollar) på samma kommersiella villkor som de som meddelades i ett press­meddelande den 20 maj 2013. Detta konsortium består av Folksam, Metso Corporation, Norrskenet AB och Peab AB. Utöver dessa kommer tre av de nuvarande obligationsägarna, som tidigare avsett att teckna sig för en fjärdedel av föreslagit obligationslån (motsvarande minst 120 miljoner US-dollar). Tillsammans med konsortiets åtagande bedömer Bolaget att det kommer att kunna slutföra obliga­tions­erbjudandet om totalt 335 miljoner US-dollar. Teckningsperioden för detta erbjudande avslutas idag, kl 22.00 svensk tid.

Northland är en producent av järnmalm med en portfölj av produktion, utvecklings- och prospekteringsprojekt i norra Sverige och Finland. Den första byggfasen av Kaunisvaara-projektet är färdig och drifttagningen startade i november 2012. Northland avser att producera ett höghaltigt och högkvalitativt järnmalmskoncentrat i svenska Kaunisvaara, där Bolaget har två fyndigheter, Tapuli och Sahavaara, med magnetitmalm. Northland har ingått så kallade ”off-take agreements” för hela produktionen från Kaunisvaara de kommande sju till tio åren. Bolaget förbereder även en lönsamhetsstudie (DFS) för Hannukainen-projektet i Kolari i norra Finland. Hannukainen är en så kallad IOCG-fyndighet, vilket innebär att det utöver järnmalm även kan utvinnas guld och koppar. Bolaget förbereder även en DFS för Pellivuoma-fyndigheten som ligger 15 km från anrikningsverket i Kaunisvaara.
