Qarlbo Biodiversity Appoints Impact Director to Accelerate Work on Biodiversity Credits
Qarlbo Biodiversity, a global leader in nature-positive forest investments and forest management, has appointed Anni Vuohelainen as its new Impact Director. In this role, she will continue developing the firm’s biodiversity credits methodology.
In her role as Impact Director, Anni Vuohelainen will lead and further develop Qarlbo Biodiversity’s overarching impact and ESG strategy. She will also be responsible for the company’s MRV systems, the development of biodiversity credit methodologies and collaborations with research institutions, technology providers, standard-setting organizations and civil society.
“Anni brings a unique combination of scientific expertise, strategic leadership, and hands-on experience from both the private sector and international organizations. Her expertise will be absolutely central as we continue accelerating our work on biodiversity credits,” says Aleksandra Holmlund, CEO of Qarlbo Biodiversity.
Qarlbo Biodiversity focuses on nature-positive forest investments and the development of projects and methodologies to measure and verify biodiversity gains. This approach enables Qarlbo Biodiversity to lead the development of biodiversity credits – scientifically verifiable ecological values that can be linked to corporate value chains, delivering measurable benefits for nature alongside long-term financial returns.
“Qarlbo Biodiversity is truly at the forefront when it comes to translating biodiversity into concrete, measurable and investable value in productive forest landscapes. I very much look forward to contributing to the development of the company's work and demonstrating that scientifically robust biodiversity impact can be achieved alongside the economic viability of forest investments,” says Anni Vuohelainen.
Anni Vuohelainen comes to Qarlbo Biodiversity from Tetra Pak, where she served as Director of Nature, leading the development and implementation of the company’s global nature strategy. She brings extensive experience working at the intersection of science, business and policy, with a particular focus on sustainable forestry, responsible sourcing, ESG as well as monitoring and management of corporate nature impacts.
Anni Vuohelainen holds a Master’s degree in Biodiversity, Conservation and Management from the University of Oxford and has more than 15 years of international experience from organizations including the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Proforest, and Tetra Pak. She has assumed her role on January 19, 2026.
