Ricoh named an EMEA ‘Leader’ in IDC MarketScape: EMEA Managed Print Services 2012 Hardcopy Vendor Analysis

London, 14 March, 2013Ricoh Europe was recently named a ‘leader’ in the IDC MarketScape: EMEA Managed Print Services 2012 Hardcopy Vendor Analysis (doc #KD01V, March 2013) report. ‘Leaders’ are companies that have led and continue to lead the market in both the extent of offering and strategic intent. Today’s European recognition is in addition to Ricoh’s ‘leader’ position in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Managed Print Services 2011 Hardcopy Vendor Analysis (doc #232135, December 2011). Both highlight Ricoh’s focus upon providing best-in-class Managed Document Services to optimise the document workflows of its clients. Ricoh benefits include more efficient and effective information sharing, with the ability to respond more quickly to client needs.

Ricoh employs more than 30,000 service professionals globally, able to directly service 95 per cent of Fortune Global 500 companies, and through its distributors and partners, Ricoh serves small and medium-sized businesses around the world. Ricoh’s comprehensive portfolio focuses on change management and maximising new technologies – including the cloud – for managing the document heavy processes of its clients.

“At Ricoh, we look at how technology is supporting document processes – the core interactions that occur regularly and repeatedly and underpin functions like HR, procurement, and finance,” said Martin Hurley, Vice President and General Manager of Outsourcing at Ricoh Europe. “Our own research reveals that 79 per cent of businesses in Europe have some of the latest devices but are hindered by back-end legacy systems from fully realising their capabilities[1], so they’re missing out on the benefits technology can bring if implemented properly, and are at risk of information bottlenecks and potentially sluggish decision making.”

“To maximise investments in technology, businesses need to do a thorough review of document processes, the way employees work, and how technology supports or hinders those activities. This is the approach we follow with clients, understanding the way information flows in a business – including how people work with it, the technology used to share or duplicate it, and document processes underpinning all areas of a business,” Hurley said.

Ricoh delivers Managed Print Services (MPS) through its Managed Document Services (MDS) programme, with an approach that is global in reach and adapts to the unique needs of its client through a strategic, vendor-agnostic view of how information flows through an organisation.

Ricoh’s expert team analyse how each organisation accesses, uses and stores information. Document processes and technology are then optimised to make them work better together, resulting in a secure, sustainable, efficient and effective system.

About IDC MarketScape: IDC MarketScape vendor analysis model is designed to provide an overview of the competitive fitness of IT, telecommunications, or industry-specific suppliers in a given market. The research methodology utilizes a rigorous scoring methodology based on both qualitative and quantitative criteria that results in a single graphical illustration of each vendor’s position within a given market. IDC MarketScape provides a clear framework in which the product and service offerings, capabilities and strategies, and current and future market success factors of IT, telecommunications, or industry-specific vendors can be meaningfully compared. The framework also provides technology buyers with a transparent foundation to allow companies to independently compare the strengths and weaknesses of current and prospective vendors.
