Stockholm International Film Festival and L’Oréal Paris Announce New Rising Star Award Recipient

In a joint effort to high-light and promote new up-and coming acting talent from Sweden the Stockholm International Film Festival and L’Oréal Paris have initiated the Rising Star Award. Actress Malin Crépin is first out to receive the honor.

The selection jury, consisting of representatives from Teaterförbundet, (Swedish Union for Theatre, Artists and Media) the Swedish Film Institute and the organization for Swedish Film Producers, have the following motivation:

”The jury is moved by Malin Crépin’s ability to express great emotion with minimal means. She is a young talent with great courage who has tackled challenging roles with a luster and commitment that distinguishes a Rising Star. We look forward to following Malin Crépin’s career.”

Malin Crépin will attend the Stockholm International Film Festival Awards Ceremony on November 29th to accept the 2008 Rising Star Award. She will also receive a trip from L’Oréal Paris to the 2009 Cannes International Film Festival.

Educated at the Malmö Theater Academy 1998-2002. Currently cast in “I Skuggan av Värmen” by Beata Gårdeler set to premiere in the spring of 2009. She has also been working closely with play-write Lars Norén for several years and will play the lead role in his latest play "A la Mémoire d'Anna Politovskaia” in Paris this fall. On screen and television she has been cast in “Miffo”, “Lasermannen” and “Upp till Kamp”.
