Today is the premiere of Great Big Story Nordics – a gold mine of inspiring short documentaries, which has its foundation in a collaboration between the CNN supported company Great Big Story and the Stockholm based agency Storyfire.

The videos are accessible on social media at www.greatbigstory.se and through a distribution partnership with Expressen, which released the first videos on its web site at 8.30 am today.

– It feels amazing that we can share this treasure with viewers in the Nordics. The Great Big Story has been a global success, attracting more than 10 million followers in less than two years. That’s proof of humans being curious by nature and wanting to learn more, says Tobias Bringholm, CEO at Storyfire.

– Our stories carried such a strong degree of emotional resonance across Nordic audiences that we knew this was a smart way to start expanding our presence across Europe. Between Storyfire and our newly-launched London bureau, we now have the resources to mine even deeper for stories throughout the region, says Uyen Tieu, General Manager of Great Big Story.

– Every person and place has a history, something to tell. There’s also a strong demand of watching video, 82 percent of all internet users is watching Youtube and in the ages of 12-15 years it’s 99 percent. That says a lot. The short and easily accessible documentary format is the future, says Jan Scherman, Senior Advisor/Journalist at Storyfire.

The Storyfire production of high quality documentaries in short format is constantly on-going. It consists of both editorial and sponsored content. Currently, Great Big Story reaches three million people across the Nordics. Next up among the short documentaries Storyfire is launching in collaboration with Great Big Story Nordics and Umeå kommun about a local entrepreneur.

– We’re always searching for new stories and new personalities with their own history. I would really like to invite everyone to come up with ideas and suggestions for interesting stories for our documentaries. We’re about 26 million residents in the Nordics – with just as many stories, says Jan Scherman.
