Inbjudan Presskonferens världskongressen FDI Annual World Dental Congress i Stockholm
23 september kl. 13.00 Presscenter, Stockholmsmässan, Älvsjö Sveriges Tandläkarförbund och den internationella tandläkarorganisationen FDI World Dental Federation organiserar tillsammans årets världskongress för tandvård på Stockholmsmässan den 24-27 september, och inbjuder till en gemensam presskonferens.

Utöver ett gediget vetenskapligt program och dentalmässan i fyra dagar, finns möjlighet att bevaka: • Invigningen av FDI Annual World Dental Congress på Hovet i Stockholm, onsdag 24 september kl 19.00: En kulturell resa i forntida mystik och nutida musik • Tandsköterskedagarna För första gången i FDI:s historia arrangeras nu program under två dagar just för tandsköterskor. På torsdag 25 och fredag 26 september hålls demonstrationer och föreläsningar.
• Forumen sammankomster för att främja utbyte av idéer på ett visst tema, följs av fria diskussioner för alla som deltar och är intresserade av temat. Forum äger rum alla dagar under kongressen.
• Fri kommunikation och poster muntliga presentationer eller posterpresentationer inom valfritt ämne följt av korta diskussioner • Pressträffar 15 minuters möten där en föreläsare sitter ner tillsammans med pressen för att presentera sin föreläsning i pressrummet. Föreläsaren finns tillgänglig för frågor och intervjubokning.

24 september kl 12-12.15: Why dentists should take part in identifying patients with coronary heart disease risk A means of Fighting Coronary Heart Disease with Ronnie Willenheimer, MD, PhD Assistant Prof of Cardiology, Lund University, Medical Director, Heart Health Group, Malmö, Sweden.
During the symposium we will give an overview of the global cardiovascular and coronary heart disease risk burden. We will describe the major reversible cardiovascular risk factors, and describe how these can be identified and modified. We will put forward arguments supporting dentists taking part in identifying patients with cardiovascular and coronary heart disease risk factors, and present a practical guide as to how this can be carried out in clinical practice. 24 September kl 12.15-12.30: Implants, Yesterday – Today and Tomorrow, with Ann Wennerberg, Professor and head dept Prosthodontics, Göteborgs universitet The implant surface is known to be of importance for the biological response to the implant. All events that occur towards a surface depend on its mechanical, physical, chemical and topographical properties. Implant surface topography has gained a huge interest during the last 15 years, especially from those with commercial interests. Claims have been made about surfaces with unique properties for fast and firm osseointegration by various manufacturers over the years. The question remains, what is fact and what is fiction?
25 September kl 12-12.15: Teeth and Brain Function. From Human Brain Sceince to Clinical Dentistry Approach, with Yoshiyuki Shibukawa från Japan, Senior assistant professor, Department of Physiology, Tokyo Dental College Somatosensory information from the orofacial area is projected into the primary somatosensory cortex, while orofacial motor execution is originated by primary motor cortex. The cortical sensory/motor neural activities provide not only somatic sensation and motor programming for execution, but also understanding of orofacial action, orofacial motor behavior, a meaning of sensation, and emotional expression. In addition, such disturbances of the cortical sensorimotor/visuomotor integration result in various diseases including temporomandibular disorders or intraoral delusional psychosis. In the present lecture, we will learn recent topics in the brain science to transfer knowledge to clinical dentistry.
25 september kl 12.15-12.30: Saliva – the Prime Protector in Caries Prevention, with Dr Helene Almqvist, PhD in Cariology, and Folke Lagerlöf, Professor in Cariology at the Institute of Odontology, Karolinska Institutet Our session will focus on the oral management of patients with dry mouth syndrome. These patients have different problems, which for example, include difficulties to speak, to swallow, to taste, to kiss and they often have severe problems with their oral health, mostly with caries disease. With knowledge of the balance of caries challenge and caries defense and the possibilities to change these processes, these xerostomic patients can stay healthy. The session will be based on a number of clinical cases treated by Heléne Almqvist, who has a PhD in cariology, and a wide experience in treating dry mouth patients. Professor Jan Olsson and Folke Lagerlöf will discuss the theoretical background for the treatment program.
26 september kl 12-12.15: Dental Erosion – from Diagnosis to Therapy, with Adrian Lussi, Department of Preventive, Restorative and Pediatric Dentistry, School of Dental Medicine, University of Bern, Switzerland. Dental erosion is the dissolution of the tooth by acids without involvement of microorganisms. The acids originate from outside (acidic food and/or beverages) or from inside (reflux or vomiting of the acidic gastric juice). Erosion is becoming an increasingly important factor when considering the long term health of the dentition. There is some evidence that the presence of this condition is growing steadily. It is important that diagnosis of erosion in children and adults is made early. However, there is no diagnostic device available for early clinical detection and quantification of dental erosion. Therefore, the clinical appearance is the most important sign for dental professionals to diagnose erosion. Adequate preventive measures can only be initiated when the risk factors are known and interactions between them are present. Further, recommendations for patients at risk for dental erosion will be discussed and cases reconstructed will be presented.
