Transcom commits to net-zero by 2050

Transcom has committed to set near- and long-term company-wide emission reductions in line with science-based net-zero with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The net-zero plan, including the company-wide near- and long-term targets will be submitted to SBTi for validation within the next months.

“Climate change is one of the biggest challenges of our time. 2023 was the warmest year on record, with many extreme events around the world – flooding, wildfires, drought, extreme heats – having significant impacts on human health, ecosystems, nature and infrastructure. We all need to do our part to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C. We’ve built an ambitious but solid climate strategy, and we look forward to having it validated by the SBTi”, says Brian Johnson, President & CEO at Transcom.

“We believe that action on climate change must be taken now, and we’re committed to delivering on our near- and long-term targets. We know that we have full support by all our stakeholders in this – our employees, clients, partners, owners, and investors”, says Snejana Koleva, CFO at Transcom.

About the Science Based Targets initiative

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a corporate climate action organization that enables companies and financial institutions worldwide to play their part in combating the climate crisis. They develop standards, tools and guidance which allow companies to set greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions targets in line with what is needed to keep global heating below catastrophic levels and reach net-zero by 2050 at latest. The SBTi is incorporated as a charity, with a subsidiary which will host their target validation services. Their partners are CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, the We Mean Business Coalition, the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).  More information is available at www.sciencebasedtargets.org
