Turkish Airlines utökar flygflottan – köper 60 flygplan från Airbus och Boeing
Turkish Airlines har offentliggjort att man köper 60 nya flygplan för att täcka behovet av större flygplan, sk. Widebody. Av dessa är 50 st fasta köp och 10 st valfria. De kommer att leveraras under en sexårsperiod, mellan 2019 och 2024. Totalt köper man 30 st B787-9 flygplan, varav 25 fasta och 5 valfria, från Boeing och 30 st A350-900 flygplan, varav 25 fasta och 5 valfria, från Airbus.
Överenskommelsen med Airbus undertecknades under turkiska presidenten Recep Tayyip Erdogans statsbesök till Frankrike i januari, med den franske presidenten Emmanuel Macron närvarade. Åtagandet att beställa 787-9 Dreamliners tillkännagavs i sin tur under president Erdogans besök till New York för att ansluta sig till FN:s generalförsamling i september.

– Det här är en viktig milstolpe för Turkish Airlines och Turkiets luftfart. Att våra överrenskommelser nu har blivit till faktiska ordrar är viktigt för att möta behovet av större flygplan på Istanbuls nya flygplats, som kommer att fungera som vårt nav när byggprocessen är klar. Det här stora steget, som ytterligare stärker vår ständigt växande flygflotta till 2023 när Turkiet fyller 100 år, bidrar till nöjdare kunder och en skjuts till Turkish Airlines stadiga ökning.
