Expansion of the WACKER ACADEMY: WACKER Opens International Training Centers in Brazil and Singapore Sao Paulo/Singapore, April 6, 2010 – WACKER, the Munich-based chemical group, is expanding its international training & competence centers and opens branches of the WACKER ACADEMY in Sao Paulo (Brazil) as well as in Singapore. The training centers offer an ideal platform for sector-specific networking between customers, distribution partners and WACKER specialists. The Group is thus promoting the transfer of expertise to its local customers and business partners, thereby helping to further tap into the fast-growing markets for modern chemicals in Brazil and South East Asia. The purpose of the training centers is to promote the transfer of knowledge to local customers and business partners. The seminar programs cater to the specific needs of the chemical and construction industry in Brazil and South East Asia. Thus, customers and business partners can seize the opportunity to learn about all relevant aspects of modern polymer and silicone chemistry and their applications in industries such as construction or cosmetics. Seminars are held by WACKER experts and regional industry specialists. Due to the rising number of training inquiries, independent training branches of the WACKER ACADEMY have now been established for the regional markets in Brazil and South East Asia. In Sao Paulo as well as in Singapore, the training facilities of the WACKER ACADEMY are located on the premises of the existing local technical centers. The close proximity to the development and test laboratories promotes the active exchange of expertise, gives participants access to on-site tours and testing, and thus lays the optimal groundwork for customer service. In addition, the collaboration with in-house research facilities, universities and institutes ensures that the seminars always reflect the very latest scientific findings. In early 2007, WACKER first officially opened the first training center under the name VINNAPAS® ACADEMY. Its purpose was to offer an array of advanced training courses related to VINNAPAS® dispersions and dispersible polymer powders for employees, customers and partners. Because demand for courses is rising, WACKER has decided to broaden the centers’ curriculum to include other areas of Group expertise. As a market leader, WACKER set up the new WACKER ACADEMY to convey its many years of knowledge and expertise in research, development and product applications. The WACKER ACADEMY is also an ideal platform for sharing expertise, cultivating contacts and creating new networks. WACKER ACADEMY sites have already opened in Burghausen (Germany), Moscow (Russia), Beijing (China), Mumbai (India) and Dubai (United Arab Emirates).
