Munich / Nanjing, July 6, 2010 – WACKER, the Munich-based chemical group, began supplying vinyl acetate ethylene (VAE) copolymer dispersions from its plant in Nanjing, China, on July 1. The fully integrated site offers VAE copolymer disper-sions and dispersible polymer powders for the construction, coatings, adhesives and other industries. WACKER is thus strengthening its position as a supplier of high-quality binders and polymer additives in China.
The WACKER Nanjing site is a fully integrated world-class production complex which serves the entire product line from vinyl acetate ethylene copolymer dispersions to dispersible polymer powders. Located in the Nanjing Chemical Industrial Park, the site produces VINNAPAS® VAE copolymer dispersions with a current capacity of about 50,000 metric tons per year, depending on product mix. In addition, the Nanjing site offers an annual capacity of 30,000 metric tons of dispersible powder. It is the largest plant of its kind in China. WACKER has a staff of some 100 employees at its Nanjing facility.

VINNAPAS® copolymer dispersions are popular binders for the construction and coatings industries, particularly in architectural coating formulations where low odor and environmentally friendly solutions are required. For example, ultra low VOC interior paints formulated with WACKER’s VINNAPAS® dispersions were used in the construction of the "Hamburg House" and the "International Red Cross & Red Crescent Pavilion" at Shanghai Expo. VINNAPAS® dispersions are further used in paints, plasters, engineered fabrics and nonwovens, and as binders in polymer materials based on renewable resources.
