    Nordic Outlook: Sustained growth despite an uncertain world

    Economic developments continue to defy political uncertainty, war and conflicts. We are forecasting sustained annual growth of just over 3 per cent during 2024–2026. However, the world economy is growing more slowly than before the COVID-19 pandemic, and the outlook is fragmented.     SEB issues Additional Tier 1 Capital

    SEB issues Additional Tier 1 Capital (AT1) to optimise its capital structure. The USD 500m issuance has a coupon of 6.75 per cent and an issue price of 100 per cent. The loan is perpetual but SEB has the option to redeem the loan after seven years (4 November 2031), and any time thereafter. The issuance is in the form of a debt instrument with automatic conversion into Class A shares if the Common Equity Tier 1 ratio of SEB falls below a certain level.  The issuance of AT1 capital is part of SEB’s capital planning.  The issuance will be subscribed and allotted to the joint lead

    Sven Nyman and Helena Saxon decline re-election to the Board of Directors of SEB

    Board members Sven Nyman and Helena Saxon have given notice to the Nomination Committee of Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken AB that they are not available for re-election to the Board of Directors at SEB’s next Annual General Meeting, expected to be held on 1 April 2025.  The Nomination Committee’s assignment to prepare a proposal for directors has commenced and will be presented together with the notice to the Annual General Meeting. Sven Nyman has been a member of SEB’s Board of Directors since 2013 and Helena Saxon since 2016.

    SEB’s results for the third quarter 2024

    SEB’s operating profit for the third quarter 2024 amounted to SEK 11.8bn, with a return on equity of 17.0 per cent, a CET1 capital ratio of 19.4 per cent, and a capital buffer of 470 basis points. “Our diversified business model enabled a robust result in a falling interest rate environment, supported by strong net commission and net financial income. Net profit was stable compared with the previous quarter.     SEB has completed its latest share buyback program, under which SEK 2.5 billion of Class A shares have been repurchased. The Board of Directors has resolved to utilise the authorisation granted by the 19 March 2024 Annual General Meeting to initiate a new SEK 2.5 billion buyback program of Class A shares.  On 15 July 2024, SEB announced a SEK 2.5 billion share buyback program for capital management purposes. The repurchases of shares began on 17 July 2024 and ended on 22 October 2024. During this period, SEB repurchased 16,111,176 of its own Class A shares at an average price per share

    Chief Financial Officer Masih Yazdi has decided to leave his position at SEB. He joined the bank in 2013 and he has spent the last six years in the positions as Chief Financial Officer.     After a late-summer bout of stock market turbulence, falling interest rates and a weaker dollar, markets have calmed down and adapted to US economic deceleration and expected rate cuts from the Federal Reserve.     SEB Group’s wholly owned subsidiary SEB Kort Bank AB has today, following receipt and fulfilment of regulatory approvals and closing conditions, completed the acquisition of AirPlus International GmbH (“AirPlus”). The acquisition, which was announced on 21 June 2023, was subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions.
