The Goulburn Valley Imaging Group, a large multi-disciplinary radiology provider in Shepparton, Victoria, has invested in medical-imaging systems from the IT and medical-technology company Sectra. The investment comprises a fully integrated digital solution for managing and archiving radiology images and patient information for the group’s six private radiology practices.

Goulburn Valley Imaging Group provides radiology services to the main regional hospital in Shepparton and other local hospitals in the northern region of Victoria. Following extensive evaluation, Sectra was chosen to deliver a fully integrated solution for a Radiology Information System (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).

“We are a recognized vendor on the Australian mammography market and the order from Goulburn Valley Imaging Group represents a breakthrough for Sectra in the radiology area,” says Henk Scholte, Managing Director of Sectra in Australia.

“Due to our year-on-year growth, we have experienced a serious requirement to optimize our workflow at all our practices and offer our referring units a convenient and efficient means of receiving patient results”, says Mr Stavros Dodos, Chief Radiographer at the Goulburn Valley Imaging Group.

“The investment in Sectra’s integrated solution was the best way forward to reach our goal to consistently deliver high-quality radiology service”, he adds.

The implementation of the Sectra PACS solution will enhance the availability of images and patient information and allow the radiologists to review images productively and securely. It will also facilitate distribution of images and reports to referring doctors located long distances from Shepparton and other towns in the region.
