England’s largest NHS Trust chooses radiology IT and VNA solutions from Sectra
Barts Health NHS Trust in London has awarded the IT and medical technology company Sectra (STO: SECT B) a ten-year contract to supply radiology IT and Vendor Neutral Archiving (VNA) solutions in its aim to consolidate resources.
Bart’s Health NHS Trust consists of six hospitals delivering care services to 2.5 million people in East London. Barts Health chose Sectra’s solution to facilitate a more efficient image-handling workflow throughout the Trust’s hospitals and enable cost-savings through the sharing of resources.
The contract comprises Sectra’s IT solution for the management of radiology images (Sectra PACS) including integration of the various radiology information systems used across the Trust’s hospitals, and Sectra Open Archive, a cost-efficient VNA solution for long-term storage of images. It connects any DICOM-compliant image storage system thus providing the infrastructure for efficient workflows across enterprises.
With Sectra PACS, the Trust will benefit from the ability to transparently and securely access images and patient information from any of Barts Health hospital sites and also other Sectra PACS users in London, such as The Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospital Trust and The Whittington Hospital NHS Trust who have both recently procured Sectra solutions.
Included in the contract is also Sectra DoseTrack, a web-based solution that allows the Trust to monitor patient radiation doses and ensure that they are kept as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA). Sectra DoseTrack automatically collects, stores, and monitors data from all connected modalities and provides automatic alerts when radiation levels exceed established thresholds.
The information in this press release is such that Sectra AB (publ) is obligated to disclose in compliance with the Swedish Securities and Clearing Operations Act. The information was submitted for publication on 5 June, 2013 at 08:30 a.m. (CET).
