The new public screening center Mammographie Zentrum Münster has ordered Sectra MicroDose Mammography for its operations. The center is one of the first German centers for mammography screening.

Early detection of breast cancer saves lives and the Mammographie Zentrum Münster is committed to advanced and safe healthcare for women. The center is also a training and education center for radiologists in the North-Rhine-Westfalia region. Sectra will provide the center with a digital mammography system that permits radiologists to perform their work productively, cost-effectively and securely without compromising diagnostic quality or patient integrity. ”We chose Sectra MicroDose Mammography because we expect very high image quality and especially low radiation exposure from this future-oriented technology,” says Prof. Dr. Walter Heindel, Managing Director of the Screening Reference Center and Head of Department of the Clinical Radiology Institute at the University Hospital Münster. ”As a result, we conscientiously avoid that women receive higher radiation exposure than necessary,” he continues. The digitization of German mammography departments is in full progress. The use of digital mammography is supported by a newly published American study* which found that digital mammography systems are superior to film-based systems in detecting breast cancer for certain groups of women. ”This order confirms that our mammography system fulfills the strict demands from the German market. We are convinced that our mammography system will benefit the development of the German mammography screening program and especially the digital screening at the mammography screening center in Münster. It will provide benefits to the medical users and, in particular, to the women,” says Dr. Andreas Keizers, President of Sectra in Germany.
