Major order from county in Norway: Sectra installs digital radiology at Østfold hospitals Sectra has received a major order from the county of Østfold in Norway for digital radiology systems. The order includes Sectra's radiology information system (RIS) and picture archive and communication system (PACS). The value of the order is approximately USD 4 million. The county of Østfold comprises five hospitals, organized into one single healthcare provider, performing approximately 170.000 radiology examinations annualy. The radiology departments of the county are now to be digitized and Sectra has been chosen as supplier of both RIS and PACS for all five hospitals. "Sectra offers a reliable system with unsurpassed functionality", says Eivind Reitan, chief radiologist and project manager for the digitization project. The system is a well-proven solution and has received excellent feedback from current users." The digitization will allow all images and radiology-related patient data to be accessed in any of the hospitals regardless of at which hospital the examination is performed. By using a high security level built-in in the system, this is done without compromising patient integrity. "We are happy to receive another order for both our PACS and our RIS. Sectra´s solution provides an unsurpassed integration of the two systems, allowing hospitals to increase efficiency substantially, " says Åge Sjåfjell, President of Sectra Norway. Sectra is one of today's major PACS providers with more than 200 PACS installations worldwide. The Swedish based company operates through partners in most of the world, but delivers directly to end customers in Northern Europe. The core business is to deliver top-of-the-line high- availability, robust enterprise PACS for 24/7 operation. In Sweden, which is currently the country with the largest penetration of PACS in the world, Sectra holds a dominant market leadership with more than 60% of all film free installations. The company has its largest number of installed systems in Sweden and the US (through partners), but has also an installed base in Germany, Norway, Finland, UK, Italy, Spain, The Netherlands and the Far East. Due to the major differences in the healthcare structures in various countries, Sectra sells RIS solely in the Scandinavian market. Outside Scandinavia, Sectra cooperates with local RIS companies.
