Medical Imaging Company Sectra establishes an office in Italy As a step to meet the increased demands from Italian hospitals, the Swedish medical imaging company Sectra will open an office in Milan, Italy. It is the rapidly growing Italian market for PACS and Mammography that has led to the decision. "To open an office in Italy is a natural step in our international expansion of the company", says Dr Torbjörn Kronander, President of Sectra Imtec AB. "The Italian Healthcare is one of the most important in the world when it comes to radiology. Now when the technology is established we expect the Italian market for PACS to really take off. Another factor that lies behind the decision to invest into Italy is the strong commitment to women's health in the country. Sectra will introduce its new full field digital mammography system to the market in 2001 and expect Italy and potential Italian partners in the Mammography area to be an important part of the business". Sectra has already delivered PACS to Italian hospitals. These installations have been made in cooperation with Hewlett-Packard and Philips Medical Systems. Sectra's strategy in Italy is to continue to sell systems through partners.
