Netherlands invests in encrypted telephony

The Dutch security authority continues to invest in encrypted telephony and has commissioned development of Sectra’s Tiger system to cover a broader range of Dutch requirements. The order is valued at SEK 15 million.

The Dutch security authority and Sectra entered an agreement as early as 2004 regarding adaptation of the Tiger system for national use in the Netherlands. Today, the Tiger system is used in all Dutch ministries and by the Dutch defense forces. Telephone calls between ministers, secretaries of state, government officials and other key persons are thus protected from eavesdropping.

“Tiger XS meets our high requirements on security, and with this order, we are continuing the successful partnership in secure voice communications that we have with Sectra,” says a spokesperson for the Dutch security authority.

“We have been privileged to work with the Dutch security authority over several years, and together, we continue to develop the market’s most secure and user-friendly products for encrypted telephony,” says Michael Bertilsson, President of Sectra Communications.

In every other EU country, there’s a Tiger

Tiger products are used in more than half of EU’s member countries by decision-makers, officials and the military to protect telephone conversations against eavesdropping. Tiger XS is certified by the EU, NATO and many national security and accreditation bodies, which makes it the most secure product on the market for encrypted telephony. The user can choose to protect telephone conversations via ordinary telephone lines, GSM, ISDN and IP networks, as well as via satellite systems. Tiger XS is also used to encrypt SMS, fax and data transfers.
