Netherlands purchases nationally adapted version of Tiger from Sectra To meet the country's security requirements, the Netherlands authorities have ordered a nationally adapted version of Tiger, Sectra's technical platform for secure mobile communications. The contract includes a five-year framework agreement for delivery of Tiger XS and other products in the Tiger family, plus related services, to the Netherlands administration. Through its Tiger concept, Sectra can provide cost-efficient and flexible products for the protection of sensitive information that are specially designed to be capable of adaptation for new markets and to meet different national security requirements. "Many countries have special security requirements for the protection of information. The Netherlands is the first of our international customers to have elected to tailor our new Tiger XS product to meet its national security requirements and we are looking forward to a long-term program of cooperation," says Tommy Waszkiewicz, President of Sectra Communications AB. In year 2002 the Netherlands Defense Forces ordered the NATO-version of Sectra's secure GSM-phone Tiger for testing and evaluation. "This contract reflects a breakthrough for Tiger XS in the European marketplace and is a result of Sectra's focus over many years on international defense and public authorities," adds Tommy Waszkiewicz. Tiger platform and Tiger XS The Tiger is a concept that Sectra has developed to meet the needs of customers for secure mobile communications. The concept consists of systems and products that have been developed in cooperation with the Swedish and Norwegian Defense Forces and which are designed to meet the highest possible security requirements. The latest product in the system is the Tiger XS, a mobile terminal for the encryption of voice and data communication. Different situations require different solutions. Accordingly, the Tiger system consists of products designed to facilitate the exchange of sensitive information, regardless of whether such information is communicated on the move, from a mobile telephone, or from a desk telephone at a fixed workplace. To increase user flexibility, the products are designed to function efficiently in several different types of communication network, such as GSM, GPRS, DECT, satellite and Tetra. The products included in the Tiger concept are based on a modular technical platform that has been approved by several national security and accreditation organizations in Europe, as well as NATO.
