Sectra displays products for secure tele, data and radio communications Sectra, which delivers about 85% of the cryptographic equipment used by the Swedish Armed Forces, is participating in the MILINF 2000 fair in Enköping, Sweden, September 5-7. Products being shown include the world's first eavesdrop-secure GSM telephone, the Sectra Tiger, and broadband encryption for datacom and telecom currently being used to secure communications in the Armed Forces' telecom network. Sectra has been cooperating closely with the Swedish Defence Matériel Administration (FMV) since the late 1980s in the new development of cryptographic equipment and currently accounts for about 85% of the advanced security systems procured by the Swedish Armed Forces. "Our ambition is to be the leading supplier of communications and command and control systems to the Swedish Armed Forces," says Per Unell, president of Sectra Communications. "Our aim in cooperation with FMV is to develop solutions that meet the high demands for security and user-friendliness that the Swedish Armed Forces demands in conjunction with investments in efficiency enhancing IT systems." Items being displayed by Sectra at the fair include broadband encryption for datacom and telecom that is currently being used to protect communications in the Armed Forces' telecom network (PPK 530 for router security and FKK 520 for high-speed encryption with ADMs), and security architecture for networked computers (LWK for LAN/WAN encryption). The LWK architecture ensures secure information, from sender to receiver. There will also be an opportunity to test the eavesdrop-secure Sectra Tiger telephone, the world's first GSM phone that meets the market's highest demands for secure communications. The Norwegian Armed Forces have ordered a new- generation of Tiger and a commercial version has been ordered by several companies in the private sector. Sectra will also be showing the complete Air Surveillance and Warning system, designated LuLIS, which is a digital radio information system where information on the current air status is transmitted in real time and can be received where standard FM radio can be used. FMV uses LuLIS for service in anti-aircraft batteries and the system is also used by marine units and airfields for air-raid warning and alarming of objects. LuLIS 2, with new functions, was introduced this year. Technical paper At the conference being held in conjunction with the fair, Johan Otterström, product manager at Sectra Communications, will speak on the subject of access control in distributed systems. Time: Thursday, September 7. MILINF 2000 is arranged jointly by the Swedish Armed Forces, the Swedish Defence Matériel Administration (FMV), the Swedish Defence Research Establishment (FOA), Swedish Agency for Civil Emergency Planning (ÖCB), the National Post and Telecom Agency and industry. The fair is a meeting point for Nordic and other European electronic systems interests. Exhibitors are Nordic companies that developed computerized command and control systems, sensors and telecom systems.
