The Henri Serruys Ziekenhuis AV, a Belgian hospital located in Oostende, has invested in medical-imaging systems from the IT and medical-technology company Sectra. This is the first public hospital in Belgium to order Sectra’s radiology IT solution.

The investment comprises Sectra’s digital solution for managing and archiving radiology images (PACS) for the hospital’s radiology department.

“The order from Henri Serruys Ziekenhuis is an important step in our efforts to penetrate the Belgian market,” says Wim Schuur, Vice President Sales of Sectra’s medical operations in Benelux.

In total, the hospital performs approximately 75,000 examinations each year. The implementation of Sectra PACS will enhance the availability of radiology images and allow the radiologists to review images productively and securely. Installation will start in January 2007.

“We believe that Sectra’s extensive experience in providing high-quality products and service will provide us quality benefits and enable efficiency gains in our radiology operations,” says Dr. Svein Ovreeide, radiologist at the Henri Serruys Ziekenhuis.
