Sectra helps civil authorities and large corporations protect their digital communication with a service that supplements existing products
Linköping – March 22, 2021 – International cybersecurity and medical imaging IT company Sectra (STO: SECT B) is supplementing its offering of secure communication systems with a new service for secure digital communication and remote collaboration. The service will allow Swedish civil authorities and large corporations to communicate more efficiently without jeopardizing the security of their mobile communication between different platforms, such as iPhone, Android, Windows and Mac. The new service will enable voice communication and video conferencing with a high level of security. The servers for the service are located in the same country as the customer and therefore comply with national security requirements and rules regarding data processing and storage.
“These days, sensitive information is handled by more people than those involved in national classified communication. We are seeing a growing need among civil authorities and large corporations for a simple, easy-to-use solution for secure communication and collaboration. This new service will provide these authorities and large corporations with a secure solution developed with their needs and day-to-day operations in mind,” says Simo Pykälistö, President of Sectra Communications.
The new service comprises an app created by the Swiss security company Wire and supplied by Sectra, whose authorized employees manage the server and related infrastructure in secure premises in Sweden. The platform supports both mobile and stationary devices and has a modern interface with all of the functions required for efficient digital communication and collaboration, including voice, chat, file transfer and video conferencing functionality.
Wire is based on Signal, a well-known, open source security protocol, but is designed for corporations and government authorities, giving them control over their environments and everyone using their systems. By operating the service together with Sectra’s own approved solutions for lower-level encrypted communication, a very high security standard is also achieved for national security solutions.
“We’re very proud to partner with Sectra, the leading cybersecurity and medical technology company in the Nordics,” says Morten Brøgger, CEO of Wire. “This partnership is an exciting continuation of our mission to provide enterprises and government organizations with a collaboration solution that protects critical communications and ensures data sovereignty with end-to-end encryption and secure infrastructure.”
The service will initially be available in the Swedish market and will be expanded to other markets over time.
“We have focused on finding a first-rate, easy-to-use solution for as many platforms as possible. Multi-platform support, including iOS, is something Sectra’s customers are looking for, and this need can now be met,” Simo Pykälistö concludes.
