The Swedish IT and medical-technology company Sectra has signed an agreement with Vital Images under which Sectra will be able to integrate Vital Images’ Vitrea® software as part of Sectra PACS (picture archiving and communications systems).

Sectra PACS is built on a unique open interface allowing smooth integration of third-party clinical applications. This enables Sectra customers to gain access to a broad array of functionalities relevant to their medical field.

Through the agreement, Vital Images’ clinical applications, such as virtual colonoscopy, vessel analysis and cardiac imaging will all be available to Sectra’s customers as fully integrated software. The complete set of tools will be easily accessible from within the PACS user’s normal reading environment.

“We see a growing demand for advanced clinical tools. By adding Vital’s clinical package to our existing workstations, we can respond to this demand, maximizing the benefits to our customers,” says Anders Brodin, Sales Marketing Manager at Sectra. “Providing Vital’s software as an integrated component of Sectra PACS makes our product offering stronger and more complete,” he concludes.
