The Swedish medical and technology company Sectra has sold its 700th software system for handling digital radiology images (PACS). Sectra’s global reach extends to sites in the United States, Canada, South America, Europe, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.

“This achievement is a verification of our global reach and the significant interest in our products,” says Staffan Bergström, VP of Marketing at Sectra Imtec. “After more than 15 years in the business, Sectra has extensive experience in PACS. We see the increasing number of hospitals using our systems as an acknowledgement that we can offer attractive products that make it easier for our customers to continue to develop and improve their radiology operations.” “In light of recent changes in our relations with Philips Medical Systems, it is also encouraging to see that Sectra’s direct sales and sales through other partners are growing rapidly,” Staffan Bergström adds. Today, more than 30 million radiology examinations per year are performed using Sectra’s systems, worldwide. Sectra’s product line features PACS as well as full field mammography systems and a broad range of focused clinical solutions, including systems for mammography, orthopedics, cardiology and nuclear medicine. In selected markets (Scandinavia, the UK and Ireland) Sectra also offers a fully integrated RIS with its radiology IT solutions. The use of digital image management systems offers major benefits to healthcare providers. By digitizing radiology operations, a more efficient workflow is achieved through enhanced availability of image and patient data, both within and between departments. This in turn helps ensure fast, effective responses and better patient care.
