Sectra receives new order for Tigers The Swedish IT and telecom company Sectra has received an order from the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) for the eavesdrop-secure GSM telephone Tiger. The order is valued at slightly more than USD 1.2 million and includes 300 telephones, accessories and support systems. "It is very pleasing that the Swedish Defense are increasing the use of Sectra Tiger," says Per Unell, President of Sectra Communications AB. The Swedish Defense has previously purchased 600 Tiger telephones. The Tiger system, which was developed by Sectra in cooperation with the Swedish Defense, is a combined GSM/DECT telephone with built-in voice and data encryption that fulfills the defense highest specifications for eavesdrop security. The Tiger guarantees secure communication all the way from the transmitter to the receiver, for voice and data transmissions as well as SMS services. The Tiger system operates with a standard subscription in the public GSM network and fixed-wire network. Through use of the fixed telenet, the telephone can be used in locations not reached by a GSM net.
