Sectra receives SEK 132 M order from Stockholm Söder Hospital Sectra will be the main supplier of IT systems, service and image generating equipment to the Stockholm Söder Hospital. The order comprises a turnkey delivery of equipment and services for diagnostics to the hospital's new Image Diagnostics Center (BDC) and the hospital's annexes in Nacka, Handen and Nynäshamn. The order value is SEK 132 M (approx $15 M US). Sectra's undertaking involves the X-ray equipment as well as Sectra's systems for digital processing of X-ray information (RIS, Radiology Information System) and X-ray images (PACS, Picture Archiving and Communication System). The new equipment will facilitate reduced waiting times for patients and provide personnel with a simpler and more efficient handling of X-ray images. It also represents a positive environmental gain, since it reduces the use of film and chemicals. "The new department is fully financed with its own funds, that is, each SEK invested in the new technology will be paid back through more efficient handling of the patients and information. We carefully evaluated the bids received over a six-month period in order to identify the best solutions within our budgetary constraints. The selection of Sectra was due to the fact that they presented the best technical solution and that Sectra has demonstrated in a number of large projects that they have the products, expertise and capacity for such a demanding assignment as this," relates Sören Orehag, Project Leader at Stockholm Söder Hospital. "Söder Hospital is perhaps Sweden's most heavily overloaded emergency hospital as well as having many older patients who require extensive assistance from hospital personnel when they come in for X-rays. Consequently, it is necessary that the equipment, such as the X-ray and IT systems, handle as much as possible automatically," relates Torbjörn Kronander, President if Sectra Imtec AB. "We are highly pleased that Stockholm Söder Hospital has entrusted us with this order."
