Sectra reports best nine-month earnings so far The Swedish IT- and medical Technology Company Sectra shows the best nine- month period ever, in terms of sales and earnings. The sales increased 23 percentage to SEK 137.5 million for the period May 1999 - January 2000 compared to the same period 1998/1999. The earnings before tax rose 29 percent to SEK 6.2 (4.8) million, of which SEK 5.5 million were earned during the third quarter. Orders received totaled SEK 147.2 million, of which SEK 21.8 million were received during the third quarter. The number of employees increased by 24 to 161. "Business developments were up to expectations and during the past quarter we have received several key strategic orders", says Sectra's CEO Jan-Olof Brüer. "In the area of digital radio systems we are involved in building DARC-systems in Switzerland. We are the world leaders in mobile networking over the FM network. Our goal is to be involved in the establishment of mobile networks throughout Europe. In the communications business area we have signed the first contracts for our secure GSM phone Sectra Tiger with non-military companies." "Within the medical imaging business area our product range has been complemented and strengthened through the acquisition of RadiSoft AB. We have also acquired a stake in the recently started company Mamea Imaging AB. The company is developing an entirely new type of digital x-ray sensor that enables extremely high image quality while exposing patients to minimal radiation. There is massive market potential for these sensors, for example in mammography," Brüer notes.
