Sectra´s 3D software application receive FDA clearance for the US market Sectra, the Swedish IT and medical technology company, has received FDA approval for its 3D visualization package. The application provides physicians with a fast and easy-to-use visualization tool for large stacks of images. The immense number of images produced by for example modern multislice CTs result in an increasing demand on the market for applications like 3D visualization. "We have designed our 3D application to be totally integrated into the PACS and, consequently, the healthcare workflow, says Anders Brodin, Product Manager at Sectra. "We believe that 3D is a powerful visualization tool for the clinician and will change the way patients are managed. The 3D application needs to be available anywhere in the enterprise, integrated into the normal workflow and easy to use both for the radiologist and the clinician." The new 3D application joins a broad range of focused clinical solutions completely integrated with the Sectra PACS workstation. Through the application Sectra customers will get access to a 3D visualization tool seamlessly integrated into the clinical workflow not limiting them to specific workstations. The Sectra 3D application provides 3D visualization of images that can be difficult to interpret in 2D. Imaging volumes can be viewed from different angles and findings can be explained to the patient in a pedagogic way. Sectra will showcase the 3D application at SCAR 2004, in Vancouver.
