Sectra's first quarter (May-July), fiscal year 2000/2001: Sales rise 257 percent Sectra reported increased sales and order bookings for the first quarter of fiscal year 2000/2001, compared with the same period in 1999. Sales rose 257 percent to SEK 48.5 million (13.6) and order bookings were up 33 percent to SEK 85.2 million (64.1). Earnings before tax totaled SEK 4.4 million (-6.9). "I am very satisfied with these results," says Jan-Olof Brüer, CEO and President of Sectra AB. "The increase in sales is primarily attributable to the fact that we made several deliveries of PACS during the first quarter, our system for film-free X-rays. "During the period, we secured an order that was highly significant in terms of strategy," Jan-Olof Brüer continues. "The Swedish Civil Aviation Administration has entrusted us with the development of transponders for the next generation of flight communications systems. Sectra will be one of the first companies in the world to supply automatic radio receivers and transmitters based on a new global standard for international air traffic. This opens up a global market for us." The order for transponders and Sectra's sales successes with PACS, including the Company's achievement in securing its largest PACS order to date in the US, are contributory factors to the increase in order bookings.
