Sectra's fiscal year May 1, 1999 - April 30, 2000: Higher profit and strong increase in order bookings Sectra reports the highest order bookings in the company's history in its 1999/2000 fiscal year. The total value of the orders amounted to SEK 433.5 (156.8) million, 276 percent higher than in the preceding fiscal year. Profit before tax rose 18 percent, to SEK 25.1 million (21.3). Sales increased by five percent, to SEK 191.6 million (182,9). "After very strong nine-month earnings, the best ever, the fourth quarter was characterized by large order bookings," says Jan-Olof Brüer, Sectra's CEO. "In the medical imaging systems business area, we received three large orders totaling SEK 217 million when the county councils in Värmland and Östergötland, as well as Södersjukhuset (Söder Hospital) in Stockholm, ordered our PACS digital X-ray system. The high order bookings have continued following the end of the fiscal year. Among other orders, we have received our largest contract to date for PACS systems in the United States, from a hospital chain in New York." "We have developed new products in all three business areas. The rate of growth in the markets in which we are active is high, and we are prepared to serve the market with a number of very advanced systems and products. Accordingly, I believe that we will continue to expand profitably in the future," Brüer added. At the end of the fiscal year, April 30, 2000, Sectra had 166 employees, 33 more than one year previous.
