Sectra secures Austria’s communication prior to EU presidency

Austrian authorities have ordered Sectra’s personal encryption product, Tiger XS, which protects speech and data communications against eavesdropping. The order also entails a six-year framework agreement for service and maintenance, and systems for administration of user groups and encryption keys.

“With the approach of Austria’s EU presidency, communication security is a highly prioritized area. Tiger XS is a product that meets the highest demands for security and accessibility,” says Jan Donnér, head of the National Communications Security Authority in Sweden. Tiger XS is part of a family of products and systems for protection of speech and data communications against eavesdropping. The products have been developed in cooperation with Swedish, Norwegian and Dutch defense and government authority customers. Sectra’s Tiger products, which have been approved by several national security agencies and accreditation bodies in Europe and NATO, fulfill the absolute strictest security requirements. “There is high security awareness among the Austrian authorities and it is a major accomplishment for us that they have chosen to use Tiger XS,” says Tommy Waszkiewicz, CEO for Sectra Communications AB. “Prior to Austria’s coming EU presidency, we have been entrusted with contributing a security solution that improves protection of sensitive information.” Tiger satisfies users’ needs for flexibility The Tiger family includes products and systems that facilitate the exchange of sensitive information, whether communicated from a desktop office phone, mobile phone, conference phone or from a tactical radio in the field. For increased user flexibility, the products operate in several types of communication networks, including GSM, ISDN, DECT, PSTN and satellite.
