Sectra to deliver nationwide imaging IT solution to Dutch breast screening program
Linköping, Sweden, October 10, 2017 – International medical imaging IT and cybersecurity company Sectra (STO: SECT B) has signed a multi-year agreement with the Dutch breast screening organization (FSB) for a nationwide solution. With the Sectra solution, the 59 mobile trailers, 11 fixed screening locations and 29 reading units used throughout the Netherlands can carry out and review breast screening examinations anywhere and at any time. The project aims to further optimize the screening process and bring the mobile screening units online.
“Implementing a breast screening solution on a national scale is an exceptional IT project. The Dutch breast screening program is among the most effective in the world and the fact that Sectra has been selected to be part of this makes me very proud,” says Marie Ekström Trägårdh, Executive Vice President Sectra AB and President Sectra Imaging IT Solutions.
The FSB operates on behalf of all of the five regional screening organizations responsible for nationwide breast screening in the Netherlands. Approximately 2.2 million women between the ages of 50 and 75 are encompassed by the program. Each year, half of the women are invited to screening of which about 80% participate. The national scale and service delivery model of the contract are unique, involving more than 59 online mobile screening trailers that move between 1,000 different locations within the country. Sectra will provide the Dutch breast screening program with a system-wide solution, including archiving, communication and viewing.
The implementation will include the migration of more than 7 million previous mammography exams and gradual installation of the system in the mobile trailers.
