Sectra to show latest advancements in RIS/PACS and mammography at ECR 2011
At ECR 2011 in Vienna, Foyer D, Booth 411, Sectra highlights product news enhancing productivity and supporting cooperation across hospital, regional and disciplinary boundaries.
Taking wide-area radiology a step further
Sectra RIS/PACS is a web-based performance solution for wide area radiology – enabling efficient workload sharing across multiple sites, even for very large image stacks over strained networks.
Streamlined mammography workflows
Sectra Breast Imaging PACS offers tools to streamline mammography workflows within high-volume screening and advanced diagnostic mammography. Sectra Breast Imaging PACS features true multi-modality capabilities and offers instant access to all the advanced diagnostic tools needed by a radiologist in a single diagnostic workstation. Regardless of modality or vendor, all breast images are automatically aligned and displayed side-by-side in the same size and dimension. CAD is an integrated part of the reading workstation, and the ergonomic key pad offers fast and easy access to the most commonly used tools.
Enhanced service to referring physicians
Sectra RIS/PACS efficiently enhances radiology services provided to referring physicians and streamlines workflows within and beyond the radiology department. With Sectra RIS/PACS, reports and images are available to the referring physician the second they are signed, and through extensive integration to HIS/EHR the clinician is provided with a single point of entry to efficient patient overviews, including image thumbnails. To further facilitate communication between radiology and referring physicians, Sectra showcases Sectra Order Management for the Northern European market. In Sectra Order Management, electronic requests are easily created and transferred directly into the radiology workflow. Features such as exam-specific request forms ensure that correct and relevant information is included, thus increasing the clinical quality of radiology requests, saving time and enhancing throughput.
Efficient cross-enterprise sharing
Further strengthening the cross-enterprise capabilities, Sectra highlights solutions for vendor-neutral sharing, built on XDS-I, the IHE profile for cross-enterprise sharing. Through immediate access to all clinical data from any connected discipline, independent of location or RIS/PACS-vendor, Sectra users can efficiently share workload and resources across departments or hospitals.
Unique visualization table
With Sectra Visualization Table, a 46-inch medical multi-touch display, multiple users can interact collaboratively and simultaneously with the real-size 3D images generated by CT and MRI scanners to gain deeper understanding and insight into the functions and processes inside the body. By simply touching the screen, the user can remove layers of skin and muscle, zoom in and out, rotate, and cut through sections with a virtual knife with just a swipe of a finger. Improved patient service and resource usage
Sectra will highlight Sectra RIS Self Check-in Terminal enables the patient to register their arrival on their own. The patient gets all information necessary for the examination and can also pay for the visit by credit card. This eliminates the need for a manned reception and improves the patient flow. Sectra RIS Self Check-in Terminal is available for the European market.
Latest advancements within mammography
Sectra will demonstrate its complete digital mammography solution, including Sectra MicroDose Mammography, its patented photon-counting-based FFDM system. Sectra will also showcase its unique on-line solution for early detection of osteoporosis, Sectra dxr-online. Sectra dxr-online is a simple first step to identify patients in the risk group, who need further investigation and potential treatment. The method is especially convenient in the context of mammography examinations and in the workflow at distal radius fractures. dxr-online is delivered as a service on the Internet and is thus a cost efficient procedure of preventing future fractures.
With the highest image quality and proven cancer-detection performance, the Sectra MicroDose system delivers diagnostic accuracy at 40-60% radiation compared to other available digital systems.
Sectra MicroDose, with its scanning detector, is the perfect platform for advanced breast imaging applications, such as tomosynthesis and spectral imaging. At ECR, Sectra will display its latest findings from the clinical evaluations of these technologies, which show potential to increase cancer detection. Sectra’s photon-counting system is the only system that can perform single-exposure spectral imaging. This method adds color to the mammograms, and may thereby increase visibility of lesions and thus improve diagnostic accuracy, all without any extra exams or additional exposure. Clinical studies show the potential of spectral imaging both as a contrast-enhanced diagnostic tool and as a non-contrast screening tool, allowing the radiologist to visualize the spectral information on top of the standard mammogram.
Also highlighing a broad range of new features and functionalities within MicroDose Mammography, such as:
- Laser-based needle examination add-on for highly accurate lesion localization for pre-operative planning. View at YouTube.
- Additional detector enhancements that will lead to further increased dose efficiency and hence image quality , still at half the dose of other systems.
- Support for Sectra’s Remote Monitoring, further improving capabilities for proactive service.
- The mobile MicroDose, now also with securely encrypted and easy-to-use solutions for transfer of data between the mobile van and the PACS and RIS. The mobile Sectra MicroDose system is highly robust and has been tested in vibration labs and in clinical practice for several years.
