Sectra wins order for broadband cryptography from The Swedish Armed Forces The IT and telecom company Sectra, based in Linköping, Sweden, has received an order from the Swedish Defense Material Administration (FMV) for equipment that protects broadband communication from wiretapping. Valued at more than SEK 11.6 million, the package includes orders for new products and upgrades on line encryption. The Swedish Armed Forces currently use Sectra's FKK 520 broadband cryptography equipment to protect data and telecommunications from wiretaps throughout its trunk network. The SEK 11.6 million order includes a new FKK 520 order and an upgrade of the previous narrowband version, FKK 510. "FMV is an extremely experienced and demanding customer," says Per Unell, president of Sectra Communications AB. "Thanks to the trust that Sectra has won from FMV over the years, we have accumulated unique expertise in professional IT security: everything from the design of individual components and modules to building and integrating entire systems." Sectra's multichannel cryptography system FKK 520 encrypts and decrypts data, voice, and video at speeds up to 155 mbps, which is significantly faster than other products in the market. Delivery will be made to FMV during the latter half of 2000.
