St. Joseph’s Health Centre launches Sectra RIS
Shelton, CT – January 5, 2011 – International medical technology company, Sectra (NASDAQ OMX Stockholm: SECT B), announces the completion of its RIS installation and go live at St. Joseph’s Health Centre, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Additionally, Sectra completed new feature development and integration to support an Ontario, Canada healthcare initiative, Wait Time Information System (WTIS), a centralized provincial system that captures and tracks exam time from order to report approval/completion.
“The flexibility of Sectra RIS enabled us to quickly develop the new features and customizations to support the specific workflow, WTIS and integration needs of St. Joseph’s Health Centre,” indicates David Glickman, Executive Director of RIS, Sectra North America.
Through a five-year agreement, St. Joseph's Health Centre has partnered with Sectra to bring advanced radiology information system (RIS) and integration capabilities to their Diagnostic Imaging Department, which provides more than 160,000 annual diagnostic imaging procedures. Sectra RIS, combined with the existing Sectra PACS, will help to streamline workflow, and improve productivity and patient care.
Sectra RIS, with embedded mammography tracking and speech recognition, includes new features to support WTIS requirements for scheduling exams, exam reason codes, exam priorities and HL7 integration. As part of the implementation process, a legacy RIS data migration of more than three million records was conducted, and Sectra developed interfaces to St. Joseph’s Health Centre’s Order Entry System, Cardiac Data Management System, Admission, Discharge and Transfer System and Wait Time Information System. The result is a completely integrated, digital radiology workflow solution that provides fast access to images allowing St. Joseph’s Health Centre to work towards overall improved efficiency throughout the Diagnostic Imaging Department.
