Women in Munich will benefit from the lowest radiation dose on the market: New German order for Sectra's MicroDose Mammo
Women in Munich will benefit from the lowest radiation dose on the market: New German order for Sectra's MicroDose Mammography system A new private practice in Munich has chosen Sectra's revolutionary digital mammography system, Sectra MicroDose Mammography. The new practice will focus on the low-dose concept and will offer its customers a significant reduction in radiation doses compared to other practices in Munich. "Sectra's system is the key to our new low-dose practice. We see both throughput and ergonomic advantages with the new digital system, but the most important is that we will avoid exposing women to higher radiation levels than necessary. This will be of great benefit to both the practice and the women in Munich," says Dr. Risch, MD, head of the private practice. Sectra MicroDose Mammography is an easy-to-use digital solution that supports the entire workflow, from examination to documented diagnosis. The system provides unsurpassed throughput, customized workflow and outstanding ergonomics. The system's excellent performance is due to the fundamentally new digital detector that enables dramatically reduced radiation doses without compromising image quality. This is an important factor in mammography screening where large numbers of healthy patients are examined. The unique level of performance is confirmed by the successful use of the MicroDose system in clinical operation at the Klinikum Krefeld in Germany and the Swedish municipal hospital in Helsingborg. "We provide our customers with a complete digital mammography system with several advantages for the women being examined. Our new customer is recognized as a pioneer within advanced technology and this order confirms that our MicroDose system fulfils the high demands of the German market," says Dr Andreas Keizers, President of Sectra GmbH. About the private practice in Schwabing In December 2004, the new private practice will open its doors to the public, thus increasing the number of private practices operated by Dr. Risch and his colleagues to four. The decision to open a new facility, dedicated to low-dose mammography, has been taken in anticipation of mammography screening and dose awareness on the part of women in Germany. The new practice will initially serve 25 women a day. However, with the low-dose concept and the advent of mammography screening in Germany, this number is expected to increase significantly.
