Semcon has signed a partnership agreement with SOS Children’s Villages to support the organization’s activities in India. Over the next two years, Semcon will help renovate and provide services for four children’s villages in the North and South of India.

The children’s village in Bhimtal, northern India, will be considerably renovated. Semcon’s colleagues at the office in Bangalore will provide services for the children’s villages in Bangalore, Tirupati and Puducherry in southern India. These services will consist of activities such as internships at Semcon’s office in Bangalore, plus renovations and equipping activities.

Semcon has also initiated a number of internal activities to spread information and raise awareness. Semcon has chosen two internal ambassadors whose task it will be to highlight this partnership to all employees by posting news on our intranet, through internal lectures and other activities. The internal ambassadors will also conduct field trips to India later in the autumn.

Semcon chose to cooperate with SOS Children’s Villages after a vote by the company’s employees.

“Semcon wants to provide support through concrete projects and have the possibility of getting our employees involved. We can achieve this by cooperating with SOS Children’s Villages. Naturally, it feels particularly pleasing to be able to support an activity whose sole purpose is to provide children with a safe, stable place to grow up. I’m looking forward to following the projects that Semcon is involved with and I’m convinced that our contribution will make a difference,” says Markus Granlund, Semcon’s President and CEO.

“It’s great for SOS Children’s Villages that Semcon has chosen us to be a partner with. Semcon’s help and the major commitment of internal resources will enable us to improve the lives of many children. Our activities in India have been going for 50 years and there is still a lot we can do. We are really looking forward to this partnership,” says Catharina Gehrke, General Secretary, SOS Children’s Villages Sweden.
