ASTLE LAUNCHES WHAT CAR? BEST EXECUTIVE CAR

TV Chef Rachel Green will be cooking up a storm at the official launch of the new BMW 3 Series Saloon at Astle BMW in Grimsby and Scunthorpe on Saturday 11th February.
Rachel, who will soon be appearing on Channel 4 in a new series with Jimmy Doherty, will be joined by former Olympic athlete Derek Redmond at the BMW Ultimate Performance Event which is being held at the Grimsby Road dealership in Laceby and at Astle BMW’s Scunthorpe showroom in Old Crosby.
The BMW 3 Series Saloon 320d SE has lived up to the legacy of its predecessor and been crowned What Car? Best Executive Car for the seventh consecutive year. It reigned supreme in the Executive category and was recognised for remaining ahead of the competition in every way. The extended range includes the exciting new Sport, Luxury and Modern models.
With its EfficientDynamics package making this generation the most economical car in its class, it appeals to both business and retail customers. However, it was not just the new BMW 3 Series’ outstanding economy that stood out for the judges; it was commended for being smooth and refined whilst still offering that sheer driving pleasure.

But the biggest gains are in efficiency: it delivers 60mpg and CO2emissions so low that it falls into the cheapest 13 per cent company car tax band for diesels. Continuing the success, the BMW X3 took home the accolade of What Car? Best SUV 2012, fighting off stiff opposition in a very competitive sector. The BMW X3 xDrive20d was awarded the top honour in recognition of its exceptional blend of efficiency, practicality and quality. CO2 emissions of just 147g/km and a combined consumption of 50.4mpg ensure that running costs are kept to a minimum.
Chas Hallett added: “There’s more competition than ever among SUVs, but the BMW X3 wins the category award by offering lots of space, excellent fuel efficiency and a beautifully finished cabin. It’s a great family car, really – and its running costs are around those of a regular hatchback.”
On 11thand 12thFebruary 2012, Astle BMW in Grimsby and Scunthorpe will be hosting an exciting event at the dealerships to celebrate the UK launch of the new BMW 3 Series Saloon and the role of BMW as the Official Automotive Partner of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Derek Redmond - one of Britain's greatest ever 400m Olympic athletes - will be giving a talk and answering questions about his experiences including the Barcelona Olympics in 1992 when his hamstring snapped during the semi finals, on Saturday 11th February at Astle BMW in Scunthorpe at 10am and 11am and in Grimsby at 1pm and 2pm.
Celebrity chef Rachel Green will be doing a cookery demonstration also on 11th February at Astle BMW in Grimsby at 11am and in Scunthorpe at 2pm. Rachel will be demonstrating Thai noodle salad, Italian style sausages, seared salmon with sauté of peas and asparagus with chive cream and ‘Food of the Goat’ – a menu to get the tastebuds racing. Tastings will be available.
Visitors to both showrooms over the weekend will also be able to watch themselves and their family and friends competing in a range of Olympic themed Nintendo Wii games on giant 6ft by 6ft screen.
